Deciding where to stay when visiting the beautiful region of Ontario’s Southwest can be tricky. With a myriad of places to choose from it’s a real Pandora’s Box of vacation opportunity. So to help I thought I would share my favourites.
1. Residence Inn by Marriott, London
Residing in the bustling downtown area of London the Residence Inn is a bright, contemporary fixture in the region’s most bustling city. If you are after a city break where you are at the heart of arts, culture and culinary delights this hotel is located just a short walk from some of the best dining and entertainment such as the Grand Theatre. The Grand Theater will be taking a Grand Intermission by postponing their season until the fall of 2021.
The hotel itself is full of amenities perfect for the downtown city explorer including daily complimentary breakfast, high speed internet, Air Canada reservation desk, car rental service and of course laundry service. 24 hour access allows you to stay out and enjoy some of London’s hot nightlife spots such as The Barking Frog or Martini Bar located above the brilliant Mongolian Grill Restaurant.
2. Argyle Manor Bed & Breakfast, Windsor
In contrast to the hustle and bustle of London, the Argyle Manor B&B offers a more relaxed and slow paced experience. Staying here gives the feeling of visiting a relative and you really feel at home from the offset whether you are choosing to stay in a manor suite or an a alcove room, either will be beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable.
While staying here gives a countryside feel it is perfectly located near major attractions in the city such as the Devonshire Mall and Windsor Crossing shopping outlets as well as Caesars Windsor. In addition to offering laundry service and free internet access the B&B is conveniently located near bus and train terminals and a short drive to the airport.
3. Elm Hurst Inn & Spa, Ingersoll
The Elm Hurst Inn & Spa is rich in history and elegance and was in fact the birthplace of the Canadian cheese industry. Luxury is the order of the day and all year round at this Victorian style country house turned hotel. Its rustic feel and 30 plus acres of land make it a popular destination for weddings and celebrations and with stunning rooms, on-site spa, elegant décor, fine dining and impeccable service it’s really no wonder why.
This is truly an escape to the countryside – Toronto is an hour east although Woodstock and London are just a short drive and the Ingersoll golf and country club is right next door for those hungry to get a few rounds in.
4. Retro Suites, Chatham
By combining contemporary amenities and original Victorian architecture the Retro Suites in Chatham is truly a unique regional experience. This hotel is perfect for anyone looking for a quirky residence with a staircase that dates back to 1895 and original tin ceilings complimented perfectly with modern artwork and furnishings. Each room is boutique and the hotel combines history with modernism beautifully.
All the usual amenities you would expect are on offer here as well as free Yoga at Shakti Yoga and free 18 holes of Golf at Blenheim Golf Club (seasonal) both on offer.
