Winter fun for everyone.
Family Day is almost upon us; the kids will be home and you may be lucky enough to have the day off as well. Need some ideas to keep the kids, and yourself, occupied and entertained in the middle of February?Shake off that winter lull this Family Day and keep the whole family active and entertained with some family fun in Southwest Ontario.
Adventure Bay Water Park
Dive in at the only all-indoor water park in Ontario’s Southwest. Adventure Bay Water Park in Windsor has over 35,000 square feet of watery fun including five giant water slides, a wave pool, the Flow Rider to test your surfing skills, and the Lazy River to take it easy. Younger children will love the Tot Loch & Splash Zone; and if they want to stay dry and still have lots of fun, there’s Cannon Cove, the park’s three level dry-land attraction. Adventure Bay is fun for all ages and it will have extended hours for Family Day.
All this snow in the past few weeks means that the conditions are great on the hills at Boler Mountain in London. Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, there’s skiing and snowboarding runs for every skill level at Boler. You can hit the slopes even if you don’t have your own equipment; there are rental options right on-site. If you’re not into the skiing and snowboarding, there’s plenty of entertainment to be had on the tubing runs too. Boler Mountain has three tube runs that’ll take you up to speeds of 70 km/hr! Get those snow pants ready and head for the mountain.
Stones ‘N Bones
Looking for something educational to do on the holiday Monday? Make a visit to Stones ‘N Bones in Sarnia, one of the most unique museums in the province. I’m really not exaggerating on the unique part, this museum and its 6,000 piece collection is one of a kind. The mineral collection, dinosaur fossils, and even dinosaur eggs are just the beginning. There’s also mounted Canadian & jungle wildlife, birds, sea creatures, butterflies, and insects; plus sharks, shark jaws, and antlers of all kinds. Remarkable is the only word I can think of when trying describe all that you can see at Stones ‘N Bones.

Take part in a guided hike where you’ll head out on a quest to identify trees at the park – without their leaves. There’s also an all-day Scavenger Hunt that’ll have you and kids going to various locations around the park to take pictures.
