Take a picturesque fall road trip through peaceful Lambton Shores to spend a day picking apples from the orchards, before heading up to the oak tasting room to sample their award-winning Hammer Bent Red, made from a blend of northern spy, ida red, and golden russet apples, or their Hammer Bent Perry made from a unique blend of bartlett and bosc pears.

Looking for a wine tour with a little more excitement? Every fall, this pioneer estate winery located in the newly emerging Huron Shores wine region opens up its doors for its annual Grape Stomp. With time trials and prizes for who can produce the most juice – it’s sure to become an annual fall tradition. Join in the fun on September 24. While you’re there, make sure to grab a few bottles of their 2015 Chardonnay. With notes of honey, pear, and green apple, it pairs exceptionally well with smoked ham, aged cheddar, and roast turkey – just in time for Thanksgiving dinner.

This fifth generation family of beekeepers pride themselves on doing very little to their honey products, ensuring that every bottle of their liquid sunshine comes right from the hive straight to your table. The first meadery in Ontario, if you’re lucky you can grab a bottle of their Cranberry Melomel. Crafted with real cranberries, it makes the perfect unexpected host or hostess gift for the holiday season.

The newest winery to join the Huron Shores wine region, this spot makes a perfect place to spend the afternoon enjoying a charcuterie board and tasting fight on their patio – blankets and a hot wood fire included.
